Through our research we found out the user has to carry this drone for 20 min in fields and mountains. It was hard to set up and replace batteries few times during a day of work. We set out to simplify the process and make this technology user friendly.

SmartDrone had come up with the latest technology of land surveying and they ask Mocu Design to design a tough shell for this drone that can be used in all weathers and locations, be easy to carry around and set up for users. Also use the latest 3d printing technology and materials for production and repair purposes.

Discovery 2.0 is one of the few products that uses 3d printing as a method of manufacturing. So we seized the opportunity to take advantage of 3d printing capabilities. We created 3d mesh for better air flow of all venting areas and we designed a printable hinge for the battery door.

Discovery 2 drone is one of the first light weight 3d printed drones in the market. It is equip with the latest Lidar technology to cut down land surveying to a fraction of time.
